Why Tiera?
The name comes from Spanish and Latin roots: a variant of Tierra (from Latin terra), meaning Earth, land, soil, or ground.
It symbolises being grounded, stable, and connected to the world around us, just like our mission to help people navigate and move confidently through their environment.

-
Tiera gives audio instructions before and at each turn, including the name of the street you're turning onto and side streets you pass.
-
Keep your phone in your pocket - instructions continue with the screen off.
-
If you miss an instruction, ask the assistant to repeat it.
If you go off course
-
Tiera alerts you immediately and automatically replans the route from your current location.
-
You can also ask the assistant "What's my next step?" to confirm where you are.
Orientation support (Checkpoints)
-
Tap the Checkpoints button or ask the assistant to enable it.
-
Hold your phone out horizontally (as if taking a photo) - haptic feedback guides you to face the right direction.
-
Checkpoints disables automatically once you start walking.

FAQs
Why does Tiera need my microphone and location? The microphone powers the voice assistant so you can speak destinations and commands hands-free. Location is used for real-time navigation and to answer "Where am I?" queries. The app tells you clearly whenever either is active.
What if my language isn't supported? If your device language isn't supported, Tiera shows a language picker on first launch so you can choose an available option before continuing.
Can I use Tiera without an internet connection? No - Tiera requires a network connection. If connectivity is lost during navigation, a warning appears within seconds. If you launch the app with no connection, it will block startup until you reconnect.
How do I find somewhere if I don't know the exact address? You can type a partial name or address in the search box and pick from the results, or ask the voice assistant (e.g. "Find coffee shops nearby").
Can I use Bluetooth headphones? Yes. All audio - navigation instructions, voice assistant responses, and teleassistance calls — routes to a connected Bluetooth earpiece automatically.
How do I save a frequent address? Open the Favourites page and save any address. There's no limit on how many you can store.
What is Checkpoints? Checkpoints is an orientation feature that uses your camera and haptic feedback to help you face the right direction at the start of a route, when you go off course, or on demand. You can configure when it activates automatically in Settings.
Can I join an organisation through the app? Yes. Go to your Account page (accessible from Settings if you skipped onboarding) and enter your organisation membership code.
How do I submit feedback? Go to Settings and find the feedback button. Follow the steps to send feedback by email. You'll receive a confirmation once it's submitted. What information does a teleassistance agent see? Agents can see your route on their dashboard. If you've set up an accessibility profile and demographics in the app, agents can view that too so they can tailor their assistance to you.
